Middle-Class [Obama] Backers Shocked Obama Raised Their Taxes

Dyed-blue-in-the-wool supporters of President Obama are blue as can be after opening their paychecks and discovering that "ordinary folks," as the president likes to call them, got slapped with a sizeable tax hike on New Year's Day.

"What happened?" was the exclamation found repeatedly by the Washington Times' Joseph Curl as he surveyed commentaries posted on liberal websites.

"What happened that my Social Security withholding in my paycheck just went up?" a DemocraticUnderground.com post asked. "I guarantee this decrease is gonna hurt me more than the increase in income taxes will hurt those making over 400 grand. What happened?"

Surprised??  Watch what’s coming!

Justice Roberts Inside The Beltway: Did He Forget What's Outside?

Betrayal is hard to take, whether in our personal lives or in the political life of the nation. Yet there are people in Washington — too often, Republicans — who start living in the Beltway atmosphere, and start forgetting those hundreds of millions of Americans beyond the Beltway who trusted them to do right by them, to use their wisdom instead of their cleverness.

As we and our fellow citizens observe this Independence Day commemorating the adoption of the Declarationof Independence on July 4, 1776, it is appropriate that each of us reflect upon the events of this past week and the decision reached by our Supreme Court this past Thursday.   After 236 years of liberty and freedom under the protection of our Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of our nation, Chief Justice Roberts has single handedly brought that history and tradition to a halt.
Why did he do it? Why did this respected conservative uphold what seems to be a dictatorial seizure of power — to order every citizen to buy health insurance or be punished and fined?
Congress can do this, wrote Roberts, because even if President Obama and his solicitor general insist the fine is not a tax, we can call it a tax:

“If a statute has two possible meanings, one of which violates the Constitution, courts should adopt the meaning that does not do so. … If the mandate is in effect just a tax hike on certain taxpayers who do not have health insurance, it may be within Congress’s constitutional power to tax.”
Roberts is saying that if Congress, in order to stimulate the economy, orders every middle-class American to buy a new car or face a $5,000 fine, such a mandate is within its power.

Until now, Congress could indeed offer tax credits as an incentive for buying a new car. But if a man would prefer to bank his money and not buy a new car, can Congress order him to buy one — and fine him [a penalty] if he refuses?

Roberts has just said that Congress has that power.

Be assured that that fact has not escaped president Obama!  If he is re-elected this fall, do not be surprised if he and the Democrats use that new power to impose their will and vision for a new society on this nation.

As the Chief Justice wrote in his opinion:
“We (the Court) possess neither the expertise nor the prerogative to make policy judgments. Those decisions are entrusted to our nation’s elected leaders, who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them. It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.”
It is my sincere hope that “the people” of this great nation will think long and hard on this Independence Day about what has just transpired and the consequences of their past electoral actions or inactions.  Consider what must be done in the coming general election least we may have just witnessed the opening of the final chapter of “the great experiment”.

SCOTUS Delivers Decision On ObamaCare

The Affordable Care Act, including its individual mandate that virtually all Americans buy health insurance, is constitutional. There were not five votes to uphold it on the ground that Congress could use its power to regulate commerce between the states to require everyone to buy health insurance. However, five Justices agreed that the penalty that someone must pay if he refuses to buy insurance is a kind of tax that Congress can impose using its taxing power. That is all that matters. Because the mandate survives, the Court did not need to decide what other parts of the statute were constitutional, except for a provision that required states to comply with new eligibility requirements for Medicaid or risk losing their funding. On that question, the Court held that the provision is constitutional as long as states would only lose new funds if they didn’t comply with the new requirements, rather than all of their funding.

So … in a nutshell, Obamacare has been upheld as Constitutional. The real issue for Americans is whether or not we are considered free. According to this ruling, we are not. This is just demonstrating more and more that America is becoming more and more enslaved when the federal government can demand that you purchase a product. This is a very sad day in America.

Don’t bother to question how or why this has happened.  You know the answer!  In a word – APATHY!  Apathy on the part of every American who feels that his/her vote doesn’t matter at each and every election.  Apathy on the part of every citizen who is too busy to become and remain informed on all the issues that affect our rights and freedoms as set forth by our constitution, our Declaration of Independence and the amendments to it.  Apathy on the part of every citizen who fails to make known and defend his/her opinions on the conduct of our government to friends, neighbors, relatives and elected representatives at the local, state and national level.

So … what now?  Accept the ruling as final with no further action or personal involvement?  WRONG!  Just as the outcome of a war is not determined by a single battle and this nation has not become what it now is overnight, neither is the loss of our freedoms final so long as there are those willing to be involved and committed to reversing setbacks such as this.

Step 1            If your elected representatives voted “Yea” for the U.S. Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare or supported the confirmation of Supreme Court justices John G. Roberts, Jr. (appointed by Bush), Sonia Sotomayor (appointed by Obama), Stephen Breyer (appointed by Clinton), Ruth Bader Ginsburg (appointed by Clinton), and Elena Kagan (appointed by Obama) , vote against them at every opportunity.

Step 2            Contact your elected representatives and tell them what you think about both the U.S. Affordable Care Act and the SCOTUS decision today.

Step 3            Vote in the coming general election this fall against the re-election of Obama.

Do you know what precedent was established by SCOTUS yesterday and how it affects you in the future?

“[W]hat the court has done is give Congress the power to do whatever it wants, to impose any mandate and abridge any freedom as long as it says the legislation falls under its power to tax. Let the implications of that sink in.”
“With a majority of the Supreme Court refusing to protect American freedom from a predatory Congress, it is now up to the voters to restore lost liberty. They have to fire the president and turn Congress over to lawmakers who respect limited government …”

ObamaCare Vs. LeninCare: U.S. Copies Soviets

The Obama Record: When Vladimir I. Lenin sought to remake Russian society into a "proletariats' paradise," he targeted three sectors for control: health care, banking and education. Sound familiar?

Of these three, however, Lenin viewed socialized medicine as the "keystone" to building his socialist utopia.

The Bolshevik leader told the Russian people everybody would be able to afford going to the doctor, not just the "greedy rich." He also claimed centralized control of the medical industry would "reduce costs" and end the "waste" from "unnecessary duplication and parallelism" in a competitive market.

And the Dems talk about the GOP wanting to “throw Grandma over the cliff”!

Obscure Court Decision Gives Government Sweeping Power

Obscure Court Decision Gives Government Sweeping Power

By THOMAS SOWELL Posted 03/26/2012 06:42 PM ET

When a 1942 Supreme Court decision that most people never heard of makes the front page of the New York Times in 2012, you know something unusual is going on.
What makes that 1942 case — Wickard v. Filburn — important today is that it stretched the federal government's power so far that the Obama administration is using it as an argument to claim before today's Supreme Court it has the legal authority to impose ObamaCare mandates on individuals.

As our Supreme Court considers what may be a "landmark" decision in the future of our nation, I thought it might be an interesting exercise for all of us to take the constitutional quiz located here.  There are only eight questions so it won't take you long.

You'll find the answers to the quiz there as well.

ObamaCare: Costs, Constitutionality And Contraception

ObamaCare dominated the 2010 midterms, driving its Democratic authors to a historic electoral shellacking. But since then, the issue has slipped quietly underground.

Now it's back, summoned to the national stage by the confluence of three disparate events: the release of new Congressional Budget Office cost estimates, the approach of Supreme Court hearings on the law's constitutionality and the issuance of a compulsory contraception mandate.

Watch this closely folks.  Starting tomorrow, the Supreme Court begins hearings that will ultimately determine the outcome of our freedoms.  If they vote in favor of the administration’s position and the law as written, kiss your freedoms, limitations on “big government” and our Constitution goodbye!
