Insurance Companies To Provide “Free” Benefits

Excuse me!  When did you last hear of any insurance company providing “free” anything?  If your experience has been at all like mine, it’s difficult to get an insurance company to pay for the benefits which are actually set forth in their policy at the time you enroll or purchase it.  At the next renewal period, you can generally look forward to cuts in “benefits” and hikes in premiums.  Guess what … if our government is successful in mandating that insurance companies must cover the cost of birth control, it won’t be free!!   Any guesses who will pay for it?  NO?  Try you and me and everyone else, whether they like it or not, because nobody can afford to provide goods and services for free.

Yet free birth control is just what the Obama administration now says everyone is entitled to since an outraged public has forced them to back off their plan to trample the First Amendment to our constitution.   The Catholic Church is outraged over this latest attempt to jamb Obama’s birth control policies down the throat of the church against their religious views.  By the way, it’s not about health care.  If anyone needs birth control, it is already easy enough for them to obtain it at any pharmacy in the country at reasonable and affordable cost.  Yes, their cost.  What it is about is stopping the current administration from expanding its already excessive powers in flagrant disregard for our constitution.  It is therefore not simply an issue for Catholics.  It is an issue for every citizen and every religion in this country, regardless of their views on birth control because, if the current administration can get away with this, it will overrun every other religion and person holding a divergent point of view from that held by “the government” on any subject.

Our nation’s founding fathers specifically added the first ten amendments to our constitution during the constitutional ratification process specifically because they were fearful of creating a government which was not specifically limited in its powers and which might, in pursuit of its own self-interests, govern in a manner which was contrary to our Declaration of Independence which reads in part as follows:

“…We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. …”

Clearly, the current administration considers itself exempt.  I can cite numerous examples, can you? 

By the way, nowhere in our constitution does it say that anyone is entitled to free birth control or free health care.  If you want birth control and health care, you pay for it!  Don’t expect someone else to cover the cost!
